Where's My Book?

Help us make a difference in a child's life!

Our goal is to provide books and learning resources to children from grades K-5.  We will also provide books only to students 6th through 12th grade. Although our wonderful teachers are doing a great job each and every day, “Where’s My Book?” would like to assist them by giving students books to enhance their reading skills as well as additional resources to use at home.

Get Involved
in promoting literacy.

OUR GOAL

We have many good readers, however every child deserves a chance to learn how to read well. It will change their lives and set standards for future generations.

Our extraordinary dedicated teachers give 100 percent of their knowledge and abilities to the students. Their daily instructions are focused on teaching the students how to read at the beginning of school as well as expand their reading skills as they advance from grade to grade. It is recommended that they should begin reading as early as possible.

Our specific goal is to simply reinforce their teaching by providing students with books and resources to enhance their reading skills as often  as they can.

The Influence Of A Great Teacher Can Never Be Erased

Literacy

Literacy is defined as having the ability to read, write, speak and listen so that we can communicate and make sense of the world.

Did COVID 19 have a negative impact on reading scores for students?

COVID 19 affected our lives in so many ways.  Unfortunately, according to several literacy studies and analysis focused on total average differences in reading achievements, some show a significant decline in reading scores in educational systems. There are further researches needed to determine the complete comparisons from before the pandemic to after the pandemic scores. There are several articles on this topic of discussion.  The following article is from a worldwide study in 2022.

COVID-19 Pandemic and Student Reading Achievement: Findings From a School Panel Study

“Teachers had to carry out learning activities without the usual face-to-face lessons, learners had to self-regulate at home, and parents had to support their children’s learning more than before. How these learning conditions affected students’ achievement is of considerable interest for educational policy, administration, and practice. This is especially true for reading literacy, a key competence that influences students’ achievement in other subjects and enables them to participate in society throughout their entire life course. Additionally, there is reason to assume that the COVID-19 pandemic had a differential effect on students. Even within a given education system, certain groups of students might have been affected more severely than others.” Read more on this particular study at https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2022.876485/full

Learning to Read

Empowering Our Readers

Each child deserves the opportunity to grow and succeed in life. Learning how to read well is a critical step in their journey. We can empower our readers by giving them the confidence they need in their reading skills.Help us provide low-income disadvantaged children the gift of literacy that they deserve.

If you are looking for a worthy cause, "Where's My Book?" can use your help.

Where’s My Book is a Non-Profit Organization.  With the help from the Poole Boyd  Foundation our goal is assist those that are from low income disadvantaged families reach their highest potentials for their future success as teenagers and adults.  This will enable them to understand what is happening in the world as they grow. It also teaches them how to problem solve, explore and figure things out.

Children can read alone or read with a friend.

What Are Readability and Text Levels?

Readability and Text Levels determine how easy or hard the text in books are to read.  Many of the children books are assigned a number or letter that indicate the relative ease or difficulty that is measured to ensure that we provide books that are based on the correct grade levels.

Chidren that are really fluent in their reading skills are able to read well beyond the expectations of their grade level.  This achievement sets the stage for more independent reading and the ability to comprehend the books they’ve read.

Champions of Reading

We can become champions of readers. The more books that a child owns, the more time they will spend reading. With your help Where’s My Book.org will be able to give them access to as many books as possible. Children from low-income families can begin building their own personal libraries with books from different genres, beginning with easy to read books and advancing to fantasy, fiction, non-fiction, biographies, and literature as they get older.

The Power of Words

As a reader begins to see how the language they speak connects with the print in books or on paper, they begin to be able to engage with others, and begin to better understand the connection between the words spoken with the words written.

Why We Care

Let's Get Started Today

Where’s My Book is an essential part of the Poole Boyd Foundation’s Non-profit organization that provides learning resources, books and other necessities to low income children, and other services that may need our help.

With your help we can raise money to supply learning resources and books to students from low income disadvantaged families whose parents are unable to purchase them.  They will be able to keep them to use throughout the school year as well as during the times that schools are closed for holidays and summer vacation.

With the high cost of living, purchasing books and extra learning resources aren’t on the list of necessities that families need on a day to day basis.  Our goal and purpose is to be a source for these important items.

We care because we love to read and we know that learning how to read as early as possible is very important. We want to instill a love of reading into the lives of as many children as possible.  Where's My Book.org is committed to help make reading a lifelong habit.  Reading is great for the imagination.  It can transport your mind to a different world.

Read to your child 15-20 Minutes Per Day

Although we realize that parents are busy and tired after a long day of working, it is recommended that we take anywhere from 15-20 minutes per day to read to your child. If you have time, read a short story to your child when you tuck them into bed.  As their reading skills increase, they will soon begin reading to you.

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Hebrews 13:16
